November Prayer Letters

Nov. 23, 2001

I was able to share the good news today at a private language institute and give New Testaments to about 25 students who had never seen a Bible with their own eyes. With the help of the Gideons, these students now have a copy of the NT and an evangelistic tract which shares with them how to become a follower of Jesus Christ. Perhaps this good news can also be posted in the appropriate place on the website, so that our supporters can continue praying for this ministry within the context of English classes at the institute.

Blessings to you-
Chris

This week,  Nov. 20-23 and next week  Nov. 27-30  Dr. Charles Brock (retired IMB missionary) will be leading two very important Church Planting Conferences in the cities of Vladivostok and Ufa, Russia.   Over 230 Russian pastors, church planters, and lay persons are expected to attend.  This is a wonderful opportunity to give a great boost to church planting in the Russian Far East and Ural Mountain areas.  Following last year's conference in Surgut (Western Siberia), that region led the Russian Baptist Union in
new church starts for 2001!

Pray for Dr. Brock's stamina and teaching and that the Holy Spirit would fall on those attending with a great passion for church planting in the coming weeks and months.

Pray for timely travel connections, as the Russian winter is already starting to set in.

Pray that the conference participants will embrace the principles of Dr Brock's teaching not because it something 'new' or 'American', but because it is firmly rooted in biblical teaching and apostolic tradition.

Pray for all the logistical arrangements to flow smoothly...such a conference requires some planning to deal with much preparation in another culture.

We hope to let you know in coming weeks thru word and photo about the
conference proceedings.

Thanks for your intercession and worship of the King of Kings!"

Nov. 14, 2001.

Last Saturday and Sunday in a small town named Blagoveschensk, many evangelicals gathered and showed the Jesus film, performed a Christian concert, and shared the good news.  Approx 300 inquirers attended during the two days.  70 of them indicated on response cards that they had either received Christ as personal Savior, wanted to participate in a bible study, or wanted further information.

Will you rejoice and continue praying that God would help the local believers follow-up on these special events?  We are praying God would start new bible studies from the inquirers, and that new churches would be formed, in addition to further new believers coming into the kingdom.  The local missionary who works in Blagoveshensk is named Nail (Na-EEL).  His picture is posted on the website.

Also, we received word yesterday that the IMB trustees approved Larry and Josie Moon to come join our team some time next year.  We would like to have that good news also posted where appropriate.  We need folks to pray for Josie, as she is a Filipino and awaiting naturalization as a US citizen. Because of the recent attacks in US, many foreigners such as Josie are coming under closer scrutiny than before, in addition to longer-than-normal bureaucratic waiting.

Pray for the Lord to move in His sovereignty to overcome any unnecessary red tape that would hinder Larry and Josie's timely move to join us here in Ufa.

Rejoicing!

Chris

Dear Friends

30 Days of Prayer to Focus on Muslim World` It wasn't long ago that the thought of reaching the Muslim world with the gospel was considered not just difficult, but impossible. Today, there is faith in the hearts of Christians around the world that this is possible. In
fact, it is happening before our very eyes. People are meeting Jesus Christ personally everyday. Christians are witnessing to Muslim neighbors and friends and are going into the mission fields. Many churches and prayer cells are asking how to pray for - and reach - the Muslim world. From November 17 to December 16 - which coincides with the Muslim fast of Ramadan - 20 million Christians worldwide will pray and fast for the Muslim world.

The many distribution centers of 30 Days Muslim Prayer Focus booklets report that there is an overwhelming interest for this year's prayer event. Orders are pouring in for the booklets and for materials on contemporary Islam and how to witness effectively to Muslims. Let your faith rise to this cause as we begin November 17 to pray and fast. E-mail others and get your church involved. Spread the news as widely as possible. We have a marvelous window of opportunity to pray and see God's will for the lost be answered. Prayer is a key and a ministry we all need to concentrate on right now. Basic information on the 30 Days Muslim Prayer Focus can be found at <http://www.hfe.org/prayer/ramadan/30days.htm>. Here you will also find a list of the global distribution offices for 30 Days booklets for adults and children. Information on contemporary Islam can be found at <http://answering-islam.org>.

We are convinced that God is doing miraculous things among adherents of Islam all around the world, in order to bring them to saving faith in Jesus Christ.  I also believe He wants to do the same among the Muslim peoples of Bashkortostan.  Jesus is well-respected within Islam and its holy book, the Koran.  As we pray for eyes of Muslims to be opened to Jesus as Savior, opportunities will arise for evangelism and church-planting.  We have a dream to see 700 new house/apartment churches to spring up in Bashkortostan by 2007.  Will you help make this vision become reality by partnering with us in prayer?  Take just a moment to sign up for the daily e-mail version of the 30 Days Prayer Guide, which will be released daily from Nov 17-Dec 16. Also, we encourage you to get copies of the print version of the prayer guide.  Click on the first link above to find information for ordering copies for your family, bible study groups, mission groups, etc.   Use the guides during private/corporate times of worship.  God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.  Find satisfaction in Him as you intercede for the Muslims of Bashkortostan and the rest of the world.
