Greetings from Ufa, where the leaves are changing into brilliant fall colors and falling from the ground. I want to give you a brief prayer update, please distribute/post/share as possible:
1. There is a flurry of repair/beautification activity going on in Ufa right now as we head toward the huge 450-yr celebration on Oct 11 commemorating the political and social cooperation between Bashkortostan and Russia. Many dignitaries, including Bashkort President Murtaza Rachimov and Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with other foreign heads of state and dignitaries, will be present for the celebrations. Pray for these leaders to lead wisely with justice, equity, and honesty for the good of their peoples.
2. 2. Pray with us for preparations for a faith-based business team coming to Ufa Oct 21-27 from Hillcrest Baptist Church (Pensacola, FL); there are many negotiations going on in the background related to their hotel, access to different business representatives and venues, etc. Pray for us to have favor in these negotiations as we try an approach that has not been attempted before: openly using business contacts as a bridge for sharing the hope that we have within us. Pray for Hillcrest team leader Victor Boll as he prepares his team.
3. 3. Pray for an ESL (English as Second Language) team coming from Eastern Hills Baptist Church (Albuquerque, NM) to Ufa and Sterlitamak Nov 4-16. Pray for our on-ground as we do a multitude of things to prepare for the team’s arrival. Pray for proper places for the ESL lessons to be conducted, pray for negotiations concerning advertising and hotel accommodations and visa registration for the team. Pray for favor with officials so that we can gain access to people to share the good news through ESL.
4. 4. Pray for teammates Victor and Susan Bauer as God continues to grant them access to different medical and educational venues for sharing the gospel. Pray also for them and my wife Eileen as they conduct ongoing ESL classes on Monday and Saturday evenings. Pray for the conviction of the Holy Spirit to be upon the participants so that they may understand and accept the good news and become followers of Jesus and start new bible study groups that become new churches.
5. 5. Rejoice with us for the 8 new believers in the Sibai Bible church who have been baptized this year! There are four more new believers in that church who are awaiting baptism, rejoice with us for God’s goodness in that church and the opportunities we’ve had to influence and encourage that church!
6. 6. Pray for Eileen as she homeschools our children. It is a daily challenge to keep three young children focused on their schoolwork.
7. 7. Pray for me, our webmasters and other believers both here in Ufa and in USA as we work on materials to produce a new advocacy DVD about Ufa and Bashkortostan.
8. 8. Pray for us as we turn in visa renewal paperwork this week to the government here in Ufa. Pray that we encounter favor and timely processing of the paperwork so that we receive full one-year religious work visa invitations so that we can easily renew visas in Kiev (Ukraine) in late November.
9. 9. Pray for translators Julia, Elvira, Alfina, Anna, Regina, Alexander, Zemfira, and Lena, who helped us with a large ministry project in July here in Ufa. The Lord continues to work in their lives and we want to see them come to repentance and become active, committed followers of Jesus.
10. 10. Pray for believers Roman and Elvira as they host a weekly bible study in the Sipailovo region of Ufa. Pray for them to initiate contacts with their neighbors to be a part of these evangelistic bible studies, so that people will be born again and be a part of a new church.
Remember to check our ministry website from time to time. You can find a daily prayer calendar there and other news/prayer updates.
Thanks for praying with and for us! We love you.
