June, 2006 Prayer Letters

 June 19, 2006

Greetings to all!  Here are some brief current prayer needs for our IMB ministry team:

1. Pray for the Carr family (IMB strategy coordinators for Team Ufa) as they have started the visa renewal process to return to Ufa in late August. Pray for favor with gov't officials both in Ufa and at the Russian Embassy in Washington, DC

2. Pray for Victor and Susan Bauer who will be joining Team Ufa in mid-November. Pray for them as they start selling/giving away possessions, complete the last month of their current jobs, and start saying goodbye to family and friends. They will be at new missionary orientation in Richmond (VA) during August and first half of September.

3. Pray for a first-ever Christian Arts Festival to take place near Ufa, Russia July 7-10.  It will be a cutting-edge evangelism project and also a time for Christian young people to share their faith through the creative arts.  Pray especially for Zhenya Vasileev who is coordinating the festival and currently involved with multiple logistical concerns and program
schedule.

4. Pray for IMB strategy coordinator Chris Carr as he does much reading and writing of papers for two doctoral seminar classes in July.  Pray that he finds ways to balance these demands with time for family, ministry, and rest.

Blessings!
Chris Carr
Tulsa, OK

We praise God for Nathan's baptism June 18, 2006.  Some time ago, Nathan asked Jesus to be his savior and forgive his sins.  Recently, he decided to declare this publicly and be baptized.  It was such an honor for his dad (Chris) to baptize him on Father's Day.  What a wonderful gift and memory!

Hello and greetings to you from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where our family is finishing up our last two months of stateside time.  We are scheduled to fly out of Tulsa on Aug. 27 and arrive in Ufa, Russia early in the morning on Aug. 29.  We've had a very fulfilling time stateside, serving as missionaries-in-residence at Oklahoma Baptist University (our alma mater), preaching and doing mission presentations in churches all over Oklahoma and other states, catching up with old friends, spending important time with family, etc.

"Thank you for giving through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering to reach a lost world! We are excited to report that Southern Baptists gave a record amount – $137,939,677.59 – through the 2005 offering. Your faithful giving enables us and more than 5,100 colleagues to continue our work and to support new colleagues coming to join our efforts. Lives have been changed because of your giving. Last year we, along with our overseas partners, baptized more than 459,000 new believers and planted 17,000-plus churches. Also, 137 people groups had access to the Gospel for the first time. I am grateful for your faithfulness! Please continue to partner with us to complete the unfinished task.  Because of your sacrifical giving, we saw two new churches planted last year in Ufa with new believers in Jesus."

Please share this good news with the good folk with whom you minister so that they can rejoice in God's goodness!

Please continue praying for us as we begin to wind down our time here in Oklahoma.  Chris has entered the doctoral program at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and will have two weeks of seminars in July.  Please pray for our visa renewal process which is at a crucial stage at this time.
