June, 2005 Prayer Letters

 May 31, 2005

WE NEED SOME KNEE ACTION ON ITEM NUMBER SEVEN ASAP PLEASE! THANK YOU FOR PRAYING! WE LOVE YOU!

1) Team Ufa asks you to pray for a mission team from The Church at Battle Creek in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that will be working alongside us from May 29th until June the 9th. Ask the Lord to work in them and through them to plant Gospel seeds, beckon those they come in contact with to faith in Christ, and proclaim the name of Jesus in the mega-city of Ufa. Ask the Lord to change the lives of both those who reside in Ufa, and those who will be coming on the team.

2) Team Ufa asks you to pray for students in our English Club. Nearly every Saturday evening since early February, the team has read articles and discussed film clips on spiritual topics with about 15 students who desire to hone their English. The second half of the two hour lesson has been spent either reading an English language Bible or reading and answering the questions posed in an inductive Bible study. To date, no one has repented and come to faith in Christ. And soon, most of those who attend the class will be going home to the villages as the college semester ends. Pray that God might work through His Word to bring the students in our English Club to faith and salvation in Him.

3) Team Ufa asks you to pray for the Sipailovo (sea-PIE-lah-vah) district of Ufa. The bedroom district of Sipailovo is home to a populace of some 250,000 souls, several casinos and gambling clubs, a strip joint, and a mosque, but has no Christian church or witness. The international church planting team is now in somewhat of a disarray and church planting efforts have stalled.  There is uncertainty as to how to proceed and disagreements over what kind of methodology to use. Moreover, our Russian brothers believe that before there can be any ministry in Sipailovo, a trained and called Russian brother must oversee the efforts there. But, five months after we rented an apartment in Sipailovo, with donated American funds, to serve as a base of evangelism in the area, no such leader willing to shoulder responsibility for ministry in Sipailovo has been identified. Sipailovo’s populace has not been substantially engaged with the Gospel. Very little ministry has been done. Pray that God might identify a Russian team leader for Sipailovo. Pray that despite our human frailties, God might glorify himself by planting a church in Sipailovo.

 4) Team Ufa asks you to pray for two young men who will be joining us in July from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Pray that God might protect these two young men from sin. Pray that because of the summer missionaries’ obedience to Him and the Almighty’s great mercy that the Father might bless and confirm the work of their hands while they are in Ufa. Ask the Lord to work in them and through them to reach the Russian speaking people of this great mega-city. Ask the Lord to transform their lives and the lives of those that they come in contact with during the month that they are here.

5) Team Ufa asks you to pray for three Kiev Bible School co-eds who will be working along side us in Ufa in July and August. Pray that the document registration, ministry plans, and logistical arrangements for the three young women might be fleshed out to God’s glory. Pray that as our Ukrainian sisters walk the streets of Ufa, God will clearly reveal to them where he is working and that they will in turn join Him in His work resulting in changed lives and the spiritual rebirth of some of those in Ufa who are now groping in spiritual darkness. Ask the Lord to protect the women from Satan’s attacks and use them and work through them mightily in the mega-city of Ufa.

6) Team Ufa asks you to pray for Victor and Susan Bauer who will be visiting with us in July on a Vision Trip. The Bauers are seeking God’s will concerning the possibility of joining Team Ufa for at least two to three years via the Masters’ Program. Ask the Lord to clearly reveal himself to Victor and Susan while they are with us. Pray that by the time their plane touches down on U.S. soil on their return trip, that they will have a word from the Lord and know His will beyond a shadow of a doubt, whether it be Ufa, their native New Mexico, or some other location. Pray that the Bauers will seek the Lord with all their hearts and that He might show them great and mighty things that they know not of.

7) Team Ufa asks you to pray for the mission team from The Church at Battle Creek in Tulsa. Tomorrow (Wednesday), at 11 p.m. Tuesday evening your time, the Battle Creek Team will begin to work in the Sipailovo region of Ufa, home to a quarter of the city's populace but no Christian church or witness. The Battle Creek team will be prayer walking and passing out free lightbulbs with invitations to Bible studies and worship services. Pray that God might put His sovereign hand of protection on the relatively young (high school and young college age) mission team and work through them despite the vast differences between their culture and the culture that they are invading over the next 9 days. Pray that they might see God's mighty hand at work and be able to return home with stories of what God has done. Pray that miraculously, in some very tough and rocky soil, that they might be able to plant some Gospel seeds that will finally bear fruit in Sipailovo.

Thank you again for praying for us. Without prayer support, it would be senseless to carry on here. Love and Peace in Christ, Larry in Ufa
