House Churches in Bashkortostan

January 2003 Update

The church gathers around the table for fellowship, tea, and cookies after worship time concluded.  Look who is closest to the cookies....this new church not along ago had its first baptismal service (of course, before the frigid weather set  in!); they also recently celebrated their first Lord's Supper observance together.  For us, the observance of these two ordinances, along with the group's evangelism and discipleship activities, are indicators that a new church has been born  and is already thriving and growing...Praise the Lord!

University coeds look at family photos Eileen brought to show after the worship service.

This is the new church that meets in a local apartment here in Ufa.  The leader of the group is Stac, who is all the way on left of second row.  The group joined in worship with  as they sang choruses in both Russian and English. This church is made up of mainly university students.

Stac is the leader of the church.  He is an excellent guitarist and all of the choruses are accompanied by Stac and his guitar.   We even sang the chorus "Give Thanks" in English yesterday, which was a very special treat for Larry and Josie as newcomers to Ufa.

Two of the members of the church singing a duet with guitar accompaniment.  Many of the believers in the churches here are unusually gifted with wonderful singing voices and capacities to play various musical instruments.  Many of the songs are hauntingly beautiful and can absolutely melt your heart as they describe the singer's dependence upon God, the need for repentance, etc
